Back

Pinch Back

Her eye lids pinch back tears
a feigned smile hides her fears,
gone today is yesterday;
while tomorrow arrives at the close of today,
as times plays a cruel twisted game-
the tick-tock clock will never be tame;
keeps on going its own way
forever onward from today,
not backwards only forward,
quite punctual, exact, and straightforward
she wants to pinch it back like an unshed tear
growing old-unfinished is her greatest fear
and time waits for no one-
definitely not her.
