Art Works!
A uniquely designed lesson program taught by award winning artist Lyndsey Warren.
Starting in August 2011, artist/illustrator Lyndsey Warren of Shadow Horse Studios LLC is offering a private art lesson program called, Art Works! from her home studio. The art program she has developed is innovative and uniquely designed, utilizing art as not only a creative outlet but a valuable learning experience that is coheisve alongside other academic programs such as; Language Arts, Reading, History, and Mathematics.
NOT JUST FOR KIDS -Fine Art Adult Lessons and High School Art Lessons are offered as well! Semi-private group lessons available - please call or email to schedule your lessons or check back frequently for updates
Art Works! - is a signature art program designed and taught by Lyndsey at Shadow Horse Studios LLC that stresses the process of art making and not the product, doing this helps to develop improved skills in art. Students will delve into fun projects in drawing, painting, printmaking, mixed media, clays, and metals (no cotton balls or Popsicle sticks here!)
Lyndsey has spent a number of years in the public and private educational systems to know that creative kids make intelligent adults! All of her "child/young adult" lessons are taught to adhere to the National Standards of Visual Arts
Lessons are aimed to help students develop improved skills in art with fun introductions to line, shading, color theory, sculpture, painting and material handling for all new and repeating students. Every lesson is different with the same goal in mind: for students to have fun with art while learning the basics through many medias, exploring different subjects, and or finding valuable connections between art and their lives.
Lyndsey has tailored her program into two specific areas:
Fine Art Lessons-are traditional art lessons that are tailored to meet the needs of all who want to better their art skills whether in painting, drawing, watercolor/ink, sculpture, digital photography, graphic design, etc. These lessons are designed with the older student and adult in mind.
Interdisciplinary Lessons- are lessons designed as a creative approach to enhancing an academic area of weakness that a child maybe struggling with, whether it be Language Arts, Reading, Writing, History, Science, or Mathematics.Lyndsey will create an art lesson that directly correlates with an area of academic weakness a child is struggling with. Lyndsey is more than happy to work with parents and classroom teachers to help students achieve in her art program. Think of it as Tutoring with a Touch of Art!
Classes will be private or semi-private small groups so students can explore each project in depth and work at their own pace. Students may create their own group with friends etc, or Lyndsey will group students according to the grade they are currently in. Classes are offered in one or two hour sessions once a week. Lessons during the school year will follow the school calendar.
Tuition needs to be paid by the first of each month. I do not expect students to attend class due to weather or holidays. Occasionally we will have to schedule a make up session on a Monday, Friday, or Saturday. Lyndsey will try to be as accommodating as possible for all her students. Credit card payments accepted via Paypal as well as checks and cash. Please make all checks out to Shadow Horse Studios LLC.
Over and over, research shows that kids who receive art lessons while they are young become more imaginative, creative, and well-rounded adults. As you may know, creativity is an essential part of intelligence, and is often used as a gauge for measuring IQ.
You can't force a child to develop artistically but you can encourage their natural interests by gently guiding them to the next level and allowing them to take the next step. It is this exact statement that led Lyndsey to create a lesson program that specifically uses art as a tool to help students struggling in other areas of academics. Young children have a natural love for the creative process and using that love to enhance other areas of academics can increase their learning tenfold.
Lyndsey works hard to develope interdisciplanary art lessons that are cohesive with the surrounding schools' curriculums. These lessons are tailored specifically to enhance a student's learning in other academics which has successfully shown that children become less intimidated by their learning weaknesses and increases their interest and their confidence in an area the are struggling in. This approach is very helpful for children who suffer from certain Learning Disabilities and helps the shy child blossom in confidence.
Lyndsey's art lessons are also the perfect opportunity for the home schooled child who may not have access to a solid art curriculum or any child or adult wanting to expand their artistic horizons. She can help help assist all high school students and their parents build a top notch portfolio for college preparation.
CLASSES WILL BE SCHEDULED TO START IN AUGUST 2011!!!!
Lessons are offered Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday
Each session is once a week and held in one or two hour sessions.

In order for your student to get maximum use of our time together I ask that they arrive promptly and ready to jump right into class. I don’t allow kids to consume food during art since art materials and foods don’t mix well.
Occassionally I will invite other local professional artists to come talk with my students and show them examples of their work. Sometimes these guest artists will even create a small activity to do with my students.
National Standards and Lyndsey's Art Curriculum-
Instead of handing out a newsletter periodically I will email one to parents of students. Please make sure you fill out your email address on your registration form. If you don’t have email I will make sure and print you out a hard copy. I’m just trying to save a few trees.
The Art Exhibits- I am planning on asking local small businesses to participate in art exhibits. This will be especially great for homeschooled childrens who normally do not have access to such opportunities.
Please feel free to contact me with any questions you may have.
